Scent glands called anal glands, or more precisely anal sacs, are situated on either side of your dog's rectum. These glands typically express themselves naturally when your dog passes a stool.
Watch out for these warning signs:
On occasion, you can notice brownish material stains in areas where your dog has sat, like on your carpet, furniture, or your lap. The glands will eventually burst. You'll see some bleeding coming from there.
